Kristin Jackson is free-lance performer and educator who is dedicated to sharing her passion for music with the community. Kristin has been praised for her poise and virtuosity as a soloist where she thrives on stage and in front of an orchestra.
Kristin graduated Magna Cum Laude with dual degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance from the University of North Texas studying with Mary Karen Clardy. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she performed on flute and piccolo with the University's Wind Ensemble, Symphony Band and Chamber Orchestra as well as a variety of chamber ensembles. From 2009-2010, Kristin performed as flutist and piccoloist with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
Mrs. Jackson began her graduate studies in the fall of 2010 at Northwestern University as a student of Walfrid Kujala, world renowned performer and pedagogue. As an orchestral and wind ensemble player, Mrs. Jackson performed as principal flute in the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Baroque Music Ensemble. Kristin was the winner of the Northwestern Concerto/Aria Competition performing the Ibert Concerto for flute and Symphony Orchestra. She performed the world-premier performance of Joseph Schwantner's Taking Charge for flute, percussion and piano. As a versatile chamber musician Kristin has frequently performed in ensembles consisting of woodwind quintet, flute quartet, flute and harp duo, flute, harp and viola trio, and as a member of the Ventoso Winds, a woodwind quintet based in the San Antonio. Kristin completed her Master of Music degree in Flute Performance in June of 2012.
Upon moving to the San Antonio area in 2012, Kristin frequently subbed with the San Antonio Symphony on flute and piccolo, was principal flute with the Symphony of the Hills, and instructed flute at Trinity University while maintaining a private studio of local flute and piano students.
Kristin and her family moved to the Oklahoma City area in 2022 and she continues to teach private lessons and offer masterclasses to local flutists. Kristin can often be heard performing on Irish flute and whistle at local spots in OKC with local Irish musicians.
Kristin's primary instructors include Mary Karen Clardy, Walfrid Kujala, Richard Graef and Elizabeth McNutt and has participated in master classes with Trevor Wye, Jeffrey Khaner, Jim Walker, and Susan Milan. Other musical influences during her time at Northwestern include Victor Yampolsky, Mallory Thompson, and Stephen Alltop, conductors of the university ensembles. Kristin has also performed and recorded with the North Texas Wind Symphony under Eugene Corporon, where she can be heard on the GIA “Teaching Music through Performance in Band” series.
Kristin currently resides in Edmond, OK with her husband, Tyler, and two wonderful children. She enjoys spending time with her family, homeschooling her children, reading, baking, and spending time outside enjoying God's beautiful creation.
